Clare River Harriers Athletic Club

Annual General Meeting held in the Arches hotel on Monday 04-Dec-2017 @ 8pm.

At the recent Clare River Harriers Athletic Club the attendees were informed that during 2017 the club was the fastest growing athletics club in the country with adult membership up from 44 to 68 and juvenile membership up from 0 to 168.
The outgoing committee offered their congratulations to the following CRH members on their achievements during 2017:
- Andrew Talbot - on winning two national bronze medals on the track.
- Philip Cribbin – on winning a gld medal in the Galway 10k road chanpionships.
- Colman Greene who completed his 100th marathon.
- and the numerous adult CRH members took part in many road races (including marathons) in the county and around the country during 2017.
The outgoing committee also thanked all the CRH members for helping with the marshalling of the following Road races in Claregalway:
- the Claregalway 5K road race in April which was a great success raising funds for the Claregalway and District Day Care Centre.
- the Claregalway leg of the Galway 5K series in May.
- the Claregalway 10K road race in August and also for putting on all the refreshments afterwards.
All members associated with the juvenile section were thanked for their tremendous contribution in successfully reviving the juvenile section of the club in 2017 and congratulated for the immediate success in their first competitions where juveniles won 18 medals in the Galway Cross country and 2 medals in the Connacht cross country.
The Club also extended their appreciation to Claregalway Football Club for enabling them to use the facilities at Knockdoemore.
The following committee members were elected for 2018:
- CRH Chairperson: Tom Kilgarriff.
- CRH Secretary: Brian Kenny.
- CRH Assistant Secretary: Patrick Murphy.
- CRH Treasurer: Padraic Mannion.
- CRH PRO: John Flaherty.
- Juvenile Chairperson: Mary McCormack.
- Juvenile Secretary: Marie Clarke.
- Juvenile Treasurer: Vivienne Morgan.
- Child Protection Officers: Caroline Flaherty and Clodagh Woods.
- County Board Delegates: Andrew Talbot and Mary McCormack.
The attendees approved the following proposals:
- Arrange and host the Claregalway 5k on Tuesday 10-April-2018 at 7pm raising funds for the Clare River Harriers juveniles and the Claregalway and District Day Care Center.
- Host the Claregalway leg of the 2018 Galway 5K series on Tuesday 22-May-2018 at 8pm.
- Arrange and host the Claregalway 10k on Saturday 25-August-2018 at 6pm raising funds for Clare River Harriers and Galway hospice.
The new committee also approved the proposal to host a Couch-to-5k series in the new year - starting on Wednesday 10-Jan-2018 at 7pm - meeting outside the Claregalway Community Center.
The attendees agreed that the best date for the Clare River Harriers dinner in the Arches hotel would be Friday 02-Feb-2018.
The new juvenile committee agreed on the proposed juvenile registration fees for 2018.
There were a number of sub-committees set up to review and make proposals on the following:
- Changes to the cost structure for the Claregalway 10k road race.
- Create a fundraising committee for the juvenile section.
- Create a coach training structure within Clare River Harriers for all existing and new juvenile coaches.

New Couch-to-5K sessions will begin on Wednesday 10-Jan-2018 at 7pm - meeting outside the Claregalway Community Center.

Clare River Harriers Athletic Club will be starting new Wednesday 7pm Couch-to-5k sessions in early January for people with all levels of fitness with a target of taking part in the Claregalway 5K in early April.  The 10th, 17th and 24th January will be used to evaluate the fitness level of participants and to group participants with others of similar fitness levels.
